Youth and Young Adult Ministry of the R.C. Diocese of Mackenzie-Fort Smith serves the social, spiritual, and cultural needs of young persons and their families; through fostering fellowhsip and formation in the Catholic Fatih. Our ministry embraces a variety of spiritual and cultural traditions, primarily of aboriginal peoples, that encourage young persons and their families to express their faith in their own actions and words.
We take inspiration from Pope Francis’ message for the 29th World Youth Day.
Meet the Coordinators
Thomas Tyrrell was born in Ottawa but raised in London, ON, when his family moved there when he was two. He went to St. Thomas Aquinas high-school and then attended King’s University College at Western University. He graduated King’s with a Bachelors degree in Criminology (BA, 2015) Thomas had originally planned to work in law enforcement or pursue law school but God had other plans. As a Catholic all his life he had always had a desire to work for the church in some capacity. This desire became very evident by the end of his studies at King’s College and he knew he had to act. Through prayer and discernment an opportunity arose though the University to work in the Northwest Territories with the Diocese of Mackenzie – Fort Smith in Youth and Young Adult Ministry. God had called Thomas to the north where he has since made his new home. He loves his new home, the people, the northern land and has not thought twice about answering Gods call.
